Sonntag Not Worried About Promised Metis Protests

Metis Relations Minister Maynard Sonntag says he’s not dismayed at the prospect of a year of civil disobedience by members of a Metis group in the province.
Metis Nation – Saskatchewan president Dwayne Roth pledged earlier this week that events celebrating Saskatchewan’s centennial next year would be the scene of Metis protests.
The MNS is hoping to re-secure funding the province has suspended in the wake of the controversial Metis election.
The provincial government also severed ties with the MNS following the release of the Lampard report.
Sonntag says Roth and his supporters have every right to protest the way they see fit, as long as it’s legal.
Roth has said his recent protest walk from Saskatoon to Regina and the demonstration in front of the legislature this past Tuesday is just the beginning of what he calls “a modern day Metis rebellion”.
