Southend Road Access Re-opened

The road into to Southend is now open again, according to a local Ministry of Highways official.

Access to Hwy. 102 from the Hwy. 905 junction was shut down Thursday morning after a tanker overturned about three kilometres from Southend, spilling approximately 500 litres of fuel.

Highways staff had expressed concern that until the spill was contained, sparks caused by vehicle traffic could ignite the fuel.

The road is now safe to travel.
