The vice-president of academia at the First Nations University of Canada has accepted a prestigious invitation.
Dr. Shauneen Pete is joining the Canadian Education Association.
The group is composed of leading teachers and professors from across the country who debate public policy in the field of education.
Pete says she’s thrilled to join the association.
The Little Pine band member hopes her experience assisting First Nations students within the province helps her raise issues at the national level.
According to Pete, that includes the question of how to improve First Nations education, specifically in the areas of curriculum and the training of teachers.
