The RCMP believe a weekend house fire in Ile-a-la-Crosse that injured a local woman was deliberately set.

The blaze erupted at around 5:00 Sunday morning.

RCMP spokesman Sgt. Brad Kaeding says the injured woman was the owner of the dwelling, and ran out of the house to seek medical attention.

She was eventually transported to a Saskatoon hospital, where she is currently recovering.

Kaeding doesn’t believe the victim’s burns are life-threatening.

No details have been provided regarding the extent of the damage to the house.

Kaeding says this has become a criminal matter, but at last word, no charges had been laid.
