A 17-year-old murder suspect from northern Saskatchewan has been released on bail after making an appearance in youth court in La Ronge yesterday.

The youth, who cannot be identified because of provisions in the Youth Criminal Justice Act, is charged with second degree murder in connection with the homicide of a 15-year-old male from Fond du Lac.

The youngster was killed in an altercation at a residence in the northern community on July 22nd.

The accused has strict conditions attached to his release.

However, those conditions — as well as evidence surrounding the circumstances of the case — cannot be revealed because of a court-imposed publication ban.

The youth is expected to appear in youth court again on August 14th.
