A 17-year-old male suspect stands charged with committing multiple break-ins and car thefts in La Ronge.
The youth, who made his first appearance on these charges yesterday afternoon, is also charged with two counts of assault, for allegedly trying to run over the police officers who were arresting him.
The RCMP have investigated more than 50 reports of break-and-enters in La Ronge and the surrounding area in the last two months.
The youth appeared on three counts of theft related to the theft of vehicles, and two counts of break-and-enter related to break-ins at two La Ronge homes.
However, Sgt. Carole Raymond of the RCMP says the arrest of this particular youth is considered “a very important development in all of the break-and-enters.”
The 17-year-old has been remanded in custody until his next court appearance on Jan. 4.
