The Assembly of First Nations is not giving up the fight for the Aboriginal Healing Foundation.

During the wrap-up of its national policy forum in Saskatoon today, Charlene Belleau — who works on the portfolio for the AFN — said a major lobby movement will begin next week, starting with a national press conference in Ottawa on Monday.

Belleau says they will also lobby MPs, and “do the work that’s required on the Hill”.

She says Aboriginal communities are not just losing the current 144 projects with the cancellation of healing foundation funding.

According to Belleau, 1,300 AHF projects have been lost over the years.
