By the end of 2012, all First Nations in the province will have high-speed, says SaskTel.
That’s in part due to funding from Indian and Northern Affairs Canada, which is providing more than $8 million, as is SaskTel, while the Saskatoon Tribal Council will administer the program.
There will also be improved cellphone service that will put most of the province on par with international phone services.
The province, federal government, and Saskatoon Tribal Council made the announcement this morning.
Tribal Chief Felix Thomas says if First Nations communities are going to prosper, they need good infrastructure, which doesn’t just mean buildings and highways, but also airwaves.
