Band Chief Charged With TLE Fraud

The chief of the Mosquito First Nation, and four other band officials, have been charged in connection with Treaty Land Entitlement fraud.
57-year-old Chief Clarence Stone has been charged with theft over $5000 and fraud over $5000.
Forty-seven-year-old band councillor Clifford Lawrence Spyglass is charged with criminal breach of trust, theft over $5000, fraud over $5000, forgery and uttering a forged document.
Three former Mosquito TLE trustees are also facing charges as a result of the five-year investigation.
Fifty-seven-year-old Gerald Arthur Bird, 68-year-old Alphonse Peter Moosomin and 53-year-old Eldon Edward Starchief have each been charged with criminal breach of trust, theft over $5000 and fraud over $5000.
All of the suspects will be making their first court appearances tomorrow.
