Guilty pleas have been entered by two of five Mosquito First Nation men charged with fraud and forgery in regard to a band TLE trust fund.
Alphonse Peter Moosomin and Eldon Edward Starchief entered guilty pleas to the first of three counts in North Battleford Provincial Court today.
They pleaded guilty to using trust money for purposes other than intended.
Moosomin and Starchief are scheduled to be sentenced in late October.
The court has asked for a pre-sentence report on the possibility of giving them a community-based sentence.
When the sentence is handed down, the Crown plans to withdraw two other charges — theft over $5,000, and fraud over $5,000.
Three other men charged in connection with the case — Chief Clarence Stone, Gerald Arthur Bird, and Clifford Lawrence Spyglass — are expected back in court in September.
