Chief Wants Answers About Review At SIGA

The chief of the Beardy’s and Okemasis First Nation is raising concerns about the Saskatchewan Indian Gaming Authority.
Chief Rick Gamble says the SIGA board apparently ordered and is now undergoing an operational review — and he wants more information.
Gamble also wants clarification on where things are at with juristiction.
His understanding is the Indigenous Gaming Regulators, the body regulating SIGA, wants full jurisdiction — but Gamble says it needs to be ready for that responsibility or it would be set up for failure.
He expects these issues to be addressed today during the FSIN legislative assembly in Regina.
Gaming falls under the portfolio of FSIN Chief Guy Lonechild.
