Crews Get Upper Hand On Human-Caused Forest Fires

Forest fires that were burning next to two northern communities are now listed as being under control.
Fire information officer Brent Zbaraschuk says the fires near Pelican Narrows and Beauval started on the outskirts of each community and burned away from them.
He says both blazes are believed to be human-caused, and the outcome could have been a lot more serious — but fortunately, there were no injuries or damage to structures.
The fire near Beauval, which is 30 hectares in size, started yesterday.
The 700-hectare blaze near Pelican Narrows has been burning for most of the week.
Zbaraschuk says neither blaze forced any evacuations.
