Friday’s devastating tornado on the Kawacatoose First Nation has left 82 people homeless and scattered in urban centres.

Residents are currently being housed in hotels in Regina, Saskatoon and Raymore.

According to a release from the band, the cleanup will take at least two weeks — and one year to rebuild houses that were destroyed.

Indian Affairs spokesman Rod Desnomie says the costs of rebuilding still need to be assessed.

The community lost 15 homes, while another five were severely damaged.

Some homes were completely destroyed, including a few that were moved off their foundation.

No one was seriously hurt.
