The Saskatchewan Court of Appeal has increased the sentence for a man convicted in the killing of his daughter.

37-year-old Delbert Whitehawk of the Cote First Nation pleaded guilty after his 10 week-old daughter Celine died of severe injuries to her head and body back in September of 2008.

Whitehawk was handed a sentence of seven years for the crime.

However, that sentence has now been extended.

Whitehawk will now serve 10 years, minus the months he served in remand time.
