A historic site that was one of the Treaty Six signing locations will be rededicated tomorrow in a special ceremony.

Fort Pitt Provincial Park was an early Hudson’s Bay Company fur trading post located halfway between Fort Carlton and Fort Edmonton.

It was also the scene of a “skirmish” between First Nations and the Northwest Mounted Police in 1885.

Through redevelopment work at the site, the original locations were discovered along with more than 1,100 artifacts.

New developments include a roadway, parking lot, and walking paths connecting the two forts and the burial ground.
