The roads around the File Hills may be a little safer, thanks to a new partnership with SGI.
The File Hills First Nations Police Service is receiving the latest technology in traffic safety equipment to help cut down on speeding and impaired driving.
Police Chief Ralph Martin says the equipment – a speed radar gun and intoximeter (formerly a breathalyzer) – will help promote safety from within as well as outside the communities.
A stop check, part of SGI’s Overdrive safety program, was in place today at a busy intersection on the Okanese First Nation.
There was also a children’s car seat safety clinic as well.
The File Hills Police Service, in partnership with the RCMP special constables, serves the communities of Little Black Bear, Okanese, Peepeekisis,Star Blanket and Carry the Kettle First Nations.
