Fire Near Southend Flares Up

More smoke is blowing across highway 905.

This time it’s coming from a fire northwest of Southend.

Steve Roberts is the executive director of fire management for the province.

He says the size of the blaze is uncertain but it is beginning to blow smoke across the highway, and that could drift into the community before long.

Meantime the fire near Black Lake continues to burn.

However scattered showers have dampened things down and most of the evacuees are back home.
