FNUC Academic Disillusioned By Termination

This is the last day of work for a long-time English professor at the First Nations University of Canada’s Saskatoon campus — but she is not leaving quietly.
Janice Acoose received her termination notice when it was announced earlier this month the Saskatoon campus building was being sold.
Acoose says she was shocked to learn she was fired, and adds she has been given little rationale for her job termination.
She says she has more than 16 years of seniority over others at the FNUC who are keeping their jobs, but was given no option to transfer to another campus.
Acoose has been with the university for 21 years, and says she worked her way up through the ranks to secure a tenured position.
University officials have not been available for comment
The FNUC has been dealing with a crippling deficit and is working towards getting $4 million in federal funding returned.
