A forest fire burning near Turnor Lake has been mostly contained, although its size has nearly doubled from 625 to 1225 hectares.
Fire official Jeanette Krayetski says the fire is 90 per cent contained.
She also says 15 new fires have started since yesterday morning.
Krayetski notes all fires so far this year have been started by people, and warns that everyone needs to be careful because the risk of fire is extreme — even though there was snow and cooler temperatures just a few weeks ago.
So far there have been 114 fires in the province this year.
Last year at this time there were 194 fires.
The 10-year average is 115.
