A man has begun serving five years and four months in jail for his part in a North Battleford home invasion, in which gang members attacked an innocent man.
Ryan Osecap received that sentence on Friday in North Battleford Provincial Court.
On May 13th, he pleaded guilty to break and enter, and participating in a criminal organization (the Native Syndicate) to help commit aggravated assault.
The sentence stems from an incident on Jan. 27th, when several men wearing gang colours burst into a home in the 1500 block of 98th Street in North Battleford.
The break-in and assault was in retaliation for an earlier incident in which men from rival gangs had attacked each other.
Osecap eventually realized they had the wrong man.
That’s when the attackers scattered, but were caught by police.
