Giant Healing Circle This Weekend

A giant healing circle of sorts will be held this weekend at Clearwater Provincial Park.

It’s the annual Guy Hill gathering for survivors of the Guy Hill Residential School.

It begins this Friday, July 30th, and ends Monday, August 2nd.

This is the 20th anniversary of the gathering, but organizers say no special events will be held to commemorate that fact.

Co-Chair John Merasty isn’t worried about that.

He says something magical will take place anyway. It always does.

Merasty says the key to the gathering’s success is to just let things happen spontaneously.

Merasty says some pretty important people have come to the Guy Hill Gathering over the years.

For example, in the early years, Phil Fontaine showed up, just before he became known as Chief of the Assembly of First Nations.
