The first batch of Indigenous peacekeepers are graduating today in Saskatoon.

The 73 men and women from First Nations across the province completed the pilot project that will see them provide prevention and intervention services alongside the RCMP in their home communities.

The graduates were enrolled in four pilot sites — North Battleford, Yorkton, La Ronge and Prince Albert.

The courses were provided by SIAST, as well as the First Nations University of Canada.
