An investigation is underway into a Moosomin First Nation family’s allegations of improper diagnosis in a North Battleford hospital.

Ten-month-old Ameera Netmaker wasn’t diagnosed with flesh-eating disease until she was admitted to Royal University Hospital in Saskatoon.

She was taken to Battlefords Union Hospital when her parents, Cindy and Henry Netmaker, saw swelling in her groin area.

The Netmakers say doctors gave them antibiotics and painkillers for Ameera several times, but that didn’t help.

Flesh-eating disease is said to be capable of killing a person within 24 hours.

Prairie North Health Region Vice-President of Integrated Health Services Barb Jiricka says the health region is very concerned about the allegations.

She says they want to find out what happened.

Jiricka once the investigation is completed in a few weeks, they’ll meet wit the family to share what they’ve learned.
