The man accused of stealing more than a million dollars from the Saskatchewan Indian Gaming Authority has been released until his next court appearance in June.
Alain Germain is charged with one charge of fraud and theft for allegedly taking $1.2 million from ATMs at SIGA casinos.
Germain says he has always thought he took about half that figure, and is waiting to see the evidence that shows he stole that amount.
Germain says he can’t check his accounts himself because they are frozen.
The Crown wanted Germain to remain in custody until his next court appearance over fears he would flee, because he had a doctor’s appointment in Mexico.
Germain says he is not going to Mexico because he doesn’t have a passport.
The judge ruled Germain isn’t a flight risk.
Germain says he is guilty, but maintains he is not the only person who was involved in what he calls a “dirty business”.
He appears in court June 2nd.
