Saskatchewan Transportation Company officials are encouraged with the ridership on a new bus route from Prince Albert to La Loche.
The bus service is provided by a private contractor.
Since it opened in November, 2008, 2,400 people have taken advantage of that bus route, according to STC’s annual report released yesterday.
STC spokesperson Lorri Thacyk says the company likes that number, and hopes it will continue to go up.
Thacyk also says the company is pleased to be providing a route that helps connect northern Aboriginal people with the rest of the province.
In March, 2009, service was expanded to include Shellbrook, Big River, Green Lake, Canwood and Debden.
