La Loche Woman Anxious About Plane In Water

Questions are being asked about a downed plane in La Loche.

Local resident Ida Lemaigre wants to know how long the overturned Savannah float plane will be sitting in the lake in front of the community.

The aircraft hit the water Saturday night and overturned because the landing wheels were mistakenly deployed.

Officials from the Transportation Safety Board confirm the plane was slightly damaged.

Lemaigre worries fuel from the plane could be leaking into the lake and she wants it taken out immediately.

She says highway accidents are cleaned up very quickly, and wonders why the same isn’t being done in this case.

According to Lemaigre, the plane is less than 100 yards from shore.
