The federal leader of the NDP says First Nations citizens should listen to their young people because their voices will be effective.

Jack Layton addressed the Assembly of First Nations’ national policy forum in Saskatoon today.

He says young people have a lot to offer, as he noticed when a delegation from the First Nations University of Canada recently visited Ottawa.

According to Layton, the voice of the students was the most powerful.

Layton says the voices of elders will also resonate with the public when First Nations people are fighting for their issues.
