Some students in the province’s north will get a chance to brush up on their reading this summer.

The provincial government is providing $500,000 in one-time funding for three school divisions in the province to host summer literacy camps.

This includes the Ile a’la Crosse School Division and the Northern Lights School Division.

Northern Lights Superintendent Mark Williment says the whole point of the camps is to get children reading at a time of the year when they normally might not be.

In total, more than 650 students between the ages of 5 and 17 years will participate in the camps.

They will be held during the day in communities that include Green Lake, La Loche, La Ronge, Pinehouse and Sandy Bay.
