A 39-year-old man from the Yellowquill First Nation will spend the next 16 months behind bars.

Michael Peequaquat was sentenced for his role in a vehicle accident last year that injured four people.

Two men and two teenage boys were walking on a road near the reserve one evening when they were hit by a vehicle.

Peequaquat pleaded guilty to two counts of impaired driving causing bodily harm.

He also was given two years probation for when his sentence ends, and a five-year driving ban.
