A mine rescue team from northern Saskatchewan took home some hardware this weekend at the province’s annual mine rescue competition.
Cameco’s team from the McArthur River uranium mine was recognized in the proficiency skills category.
Team members competed in a bench test, as well as several gas exams to win the event.
Pam Schwann is the executive director of the Saskatchewan Mining Association, the group that hosted the event in Saskatoon.
She says the McArthur River team replaces a two-time winner from AREVA as champion of proficiency skills.
Schwann notes the McArthur River squad has been a past winner of the practical skills category, another problem-solving competition.
This was the 42nd time the mine/rescue skills competition has been held.
