A series of memorial walks are planned this weekend at Aboriginal communities throughout Saskatchewan.
The first one begins at 8:00 a.m Saturday at Lloydminster city hall.
The families of the late Violet Heathen and late Jeanette Chief are inviting everyone to walk with them as they honour the women.
Organizer Ruby Whitstone, sister of the later Violet Heathen, hopes the walk helps alert the public to the problem of missing and murdered aboriginal women.
Meantime a prayer walk is also scheduled to begin tomorrow morning at 10:30 a.m. at the entrance of the Moosomin First Nation in honour of the families who have lost family members on the community’s grid road.
As well the family of the late Willard Clarence Brass, who has not been seen since May of 1993, is inviting the public to walk with them from Norquay to the Key First Nation.
That walk begins at 10 a.m. on Norquay’s Main Street.
