A long-time advocate for boarding school survivors in northwest Saskatchewan has passed away.
Don Favel died over the weekend in hospital.
The Ile a’la Crosse resident was well-known for his work in trying to get compensation for former students of the boarding school in his community.
Metis Nation – Saskatchewan executive member Max Morin says Favel will be dearly missed.
Morin says Favel was always an advocate for the Metis, noting that he also served as a Metis local president and an MN-S area director.
A funeral for Favel is said to be taking place tomorrow.
