MN-S Forced To Lay Off 17 Workers

The Metis Nation – Saskatchewan has laid off most of its employees and is working with a skeleton staff of six.
MN-S President Robert Doucette says this is normal for organizations that get funding from different levels of government.
Doucette says at the end of every fiscal year, when funding agreements have yet to be signed with various levels of government, it’s impossible to keep staff on the payroll.
Around 17 people have been laid off.
Doucette says once the funding agreements between the MN-S and the provincial and federal governments have been signed, those people will be hired back.
He can’t say when those funding agreements will be signed, but says all parties are working hard to make that happen.
