New Police Boards in the North

New police boards are slowly beginning to spread across Northern Saskatchewan.

In July of last year, the provincial government announced a new community policing framework agreement with the goal of establishing around 30 police boards across the North.

Al Fraser is a former police inspector who is helping coordinate the move.

He says right now they have boards set up in Green Lake, Beauval, Buffalo Narrows, Pinehouse, Creighton and Ile-a-la-Crosse.

In addition, he says co-boards have also been established with citizens on patrol in Air Ronge and the Sandy Bay Justice Committee.

Fraser adds they will continue to meet with communities in hopes of setting up more boards.
