Social Services Minister Donna Harpauer says an inquiry into the death of a First Nations toddler will not be conducted at this time.
Harpauer says there are four investigations ongoing into the death of 22-month-old Evander Lee Daniels, including by the RCMP, Ministry of Social Services, and the Children’s Advocate.
She says if there are still many unanswered questions following these investigations, consideration would be given to an inquiry.
A preliminary report from the coroner says the boy, who was in foster care in Aberdeen, died from drowning on June 8th.
The Sturgeon Lake First Nation and the Federation of Saskatchewan Indian Nations requested an inquiry on Friday.
