North Battleford Small City Crime Capital

North Battleford has the dubious honour of the highest crime rate in the country for communities with populations over 10,000 people.
The report was released by Statistics Canada.
Battlefords Tribal Council Director of Justice and City Councillor Ray Fox says the city is trying to solve the problem.
It has been meeting with both tribal councils, city representatives, RCMP, and social services to brainstorm solutions.
Fox says root causes of crime include poverty, unemployment, and lack of identity among Aboriginal people.
He says attacking just one facet of the problem – for example, the crime committed – isn’t going to solve the problem.
