Northern Air Medical Service Takes Flight

The Mamawetan Churchill River Health Region has set up a new air transport service.
It’s for people who need to travel out of their communities, but don’t need emergency medical service, like the air ambulance.
Previously, air service was provided, but it came all the way from Saskatoon, or from local businesses that weren’t organized around air transport.
Now the health region, in conjunction with the province’s Ministry of Health, has a contract with a local air service in La Ronge.
This way, everything will be ready at a moment’s notice, according to Andrew McLetchie, director of integrated health services for the region.
He says now, staff will be standing by ready to evacuate clients, and all the services they need will be on board the aircraft.
The service began operating July 10th.
