A new gold mine north of La Ronge that’s been on the drawing board for about four years will start production in a couple of months.
That’s the word from Claude Resources President and CEO Neil McMillan.
He says the company got the last permit it needed for the new Santoy 8 mine last week.
He says they’ll start mining gold there in the next 60 to 90 days.
McMillan says they’ve already hired workers for that mine, but more employees may be hired in the future.
The company has also received some good news regarding its Seabee mine, also north of La Ronge.
Drillers have found some of the highest grade gold ever found there – some of the best grade gold in the country.
It’s about a thousand meters below the surface.
The mine’s shaft is currently only about 600 meters below the surface, so miners will have to extend the shaft to reach that gold.
McMillan says they should be mining that gold by the end of the year.
