A northern Saskatchewan health region is looking to cut costs.
The Keewatin Yatthe Regional Health Authority says it wants to reduce the amount of time its workers spend on sick leave or collecting overtime.
CEO Richard Petit says he will be asking managers to sit down with employees and figure out if there is something they can do to help workers who are constantly sick.
Petit explains workers who are always sick force the region to spend a lot on overtime.
He notes the provincial government wants health regions to save five per cent on sick time and 10 per cent on overtime.
Petit says Keewatin Yatthe will do its best to exceed those targets.
