NWAC Raises Awareness about Elder Abuse

The Native Women’s Association of Canada is acknowledging elders today.
The group says today is World Elder Abuse Awareness day, and they want people to recognize the role elders play in society.
For the past year, NWAC has been developing a research project to explore the safety, well-being and abuse of senior Aboriginal men and women across Canada.
The findings of the study will be released later this summer.
In the mean time, the group is calling on Aboriginal communities to raise awareness about the safety, health and well-being of Mushums and Kookums throughout the land.
