Pilot Lands Plane On Northern Road

Engine problems are being given as the cause of an emergency landing yesterday near Weyakwin.
Around 11:15 a.m., a plane from Carstairs, Alberta on its way to La Ronge went down on the Tracey Lake Road.
The pilot, who escaped with minor injuries, made it down safely on the gravel road — but the plane’s left wing hit some trees in the process.
Transportation Safety Board spokesman Peter Hildebrandt says it appears the engine seized up.
Hildebrandt adds the four-seat aircraft sustained considerable damage — but at this point, his agency considers the matter closed.
