A woman and her newborn baby are said to be in serious but stable condition following an attack on the Whitebear First Nation.

The RCMP say the assault late Sunday afternoon at a reserve resident left a 21-year-old pregnant woman with life-threatening injuries.

The woman, who was in the later stage of her pregnancy, was transported to a hospital in Regina, where her baby was delivered.

The Mounties have not released the names of the victims.

At last word, the RCMP had yet to identify any suspects.

The RCMP’s Major Crimes Unit in Regina is assisting with the investigation.
