A new poll by Insightrix Research indicates the majority of people in Saskatchewan, including Aboriginal people, support the province’s move to reduce the number of tax-free cigarettes First Nations people can buy on reserves.

Insightrix says 88.7 per cent of the randomly selected 800 people support this move.

The firm notes that 77.2 per cent of Aboriginal people surveyed also support the decision.

The move drew fire from the Federation of Saskatchewan Indian Nations, which called it an attack on treaty rights and First Nations economies.
