Nearly a dozen teepees on the lawn of a Regina high school marked the starting point for the city’s fourth annual smudge walk.
At least 1,000 people participated in this year’s walk through a neighbourhood notorious for violence.
Erica Beaudin is the Urban Services Manager for Regina Treaty Status Indian Services.
She says the walk brings the community together.
Beaudin also says she believes smudging brings cleansing and renewal to the neighborhood.
