SIGA Chair Fields Questions About Review, Bonuses

The chairman of the Saskatchewan Indian Gaming Authority tried to address some concerns around gaming at this week’s FSIN legislative assembly in Regina.

Ray Ahenakew told the chiefs yesterday that SIGA’s Swift Current casino is making less than half the money the other casinos make.

In light of that, there was a question from the floor about whether or not executives were receiving bonuses and if that should happen.

Ahenakew says that is a staffing issue that the board stays away from — but adds there has been “discussion within the system of maybe eliminating a lot of that”.

Ahenakew expects the financial audit to be completed by the end of this month.

He says more information on a current operational review of SIGA should be ready for a special assembly on gaming for later this summer.
