Some Changes to Timber-zone Designations

The province’s director of Forest Fire Management confirms some changes have been made to Timber-zone designations in the North.
Steve Roberts says some zones that were once home to valuable timber have been re-classified as modified regimes.
He says one of the those zones is located north of Nemeiben Lake.
A fire has been burning there for several days sending smoke to nearby areas.
Roberts stresses that although the area may be under a different zoning designation, they are still attacking the fire.
Roberts says the decision was made in the spring as part of the yearly budget.
He adds there’s been no adjustments to the community zones and they remain the top priority.
