Teens Missing After Swimming From Overturned Boat

Members of the Peter Ballantyne Cree Nation in the Deschambault Lake area are frantically searching for two youths who went missing on a nearby lake last night.

Little is known at this time, but according to a community member, six or seven young people were on a boat which capsized at around 8:00 p.m near an area known locally as Clark’s Point.

Two of the youths, aged 16 and 18, attempted to swim to get help, while the others stayed with the boat.

According to a band official, the ones who stayed with the vessel were found by a passing boater, while the other two are still missing.

A search effort led by community members is currently underway.
