One union leader is shaking his head at the cancellation of the Aboriginal Employment Development Program.
Tom Graham of the province’s Canadian Union of Public Employees says the program was very successful in helping Aboriginal people enter the workforce as well as combatting misconceptions.
Graham says the program helped thousands of Aboriginal people get jobs and training in health care and other unionized positions.
According to CUPE Saskatchewan, Saskatchewan has the largest gap of employment rates between Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal adults.
