Airline Begins Disputed Flights To Fond du Lac

Officials with Pronto Airways say there were no problems yesterday as the company began regular passenger service to Fond du Lac.

Last month, Fond Du Lac First Nation Chief Napoleon Mercredi threatened legal action if the company started operating in the area.

Pronto vice-president and general manager Dennis Baranieski says he hasn’t heard about any legal action or other issues regarding yesterday’s launch of the new service.

Baranieski says the company has hired an agent to ensure passengers have transportation at the airport.

He adds the company hopes to have a terminal set up at Fond du Lac by the end of the month.

Band officials have not been available for comment.
