An exhibit dedicated to the obstacles and resilience of First Nations and Metis people is celebrating hiring a project manager, which means a pilot exhibit will be debuting next year.
“Sasipenita”, which means ‘never give up’ in Swampy Cree, was developed by Monica Goulet, who got the idea when she was working on an exhibit about Anne Frank.
She says many people asked her why there wasn’t an exhibit telling the stories of Aboriginal people.
Goulet says that’s exactly what “Sasipenita” intends to do.
A pilot exhibit celebrating the accomplishments of Aboriginal women will open in March.
Goulet says “Sasipenita” will be a travelling exhibit, so it will travel around Saskatchewan — but she hopes it will become world-class and travel beyond that.
